Lay your phone flat on the table between you. Each of you gets a side of the napkin, and everything on your side faces you. Or pass it around the table and fold a monster together.
The games
-
Fold-a-Monster
The folded-paper drawing game. Everyone draws one part of a monster, then folds it over so the next artist only sees a few lines peeking past the fold. Unfold it at the end and meet what you made together. For two or more.
-
Tic-Tac-Toe
The classic, plus Ultimate: nine boards in one, where every move decides where your opponent plays next.
-
Four in a Row
Drop discs, line up four, then pull the lever and watch them all fall out.
-
Dots & Boxes
Close a box and go again. Play a quick 3×3 or a long 6×6.
-
Rally
A paddle at each end and a ball that speeds up with every hit.
-
Doodle
Guess the Doodle: one of you draws a secret word, the other guesses. Ten words, a minute each, as a team. Or just doodle together; whatever you draw shows up the right way round for both of you.
Questions
How do we play together?
Lay the phone or iPad flat on the table between you. Each of you gets the half nearest you, and everything on your half faces you.
Can I play by myself?
Yes. Pick “Me vs the computer” before a game starts, then Easy, Medium or Hard. Every game has it except Doodle and Fold-a-Monster, which are made for drawing together.
Do I need an iPhone Duo?
No. Napkin Games works on any iPhone or iPad with iOS 18 or later. On iPhone Duo, the fold joins in:
- In Fold-a-Monster, closing the phone folds your part over, and the outside screen tells the next artist what to draw. Stand it up like a laptop to draw on the bottom half with your instructions on the top. At the end, open it slowly and the monster unfolds with it.
- Close it mid-game to pause. The score waits on the outside screen.
- Round over? Fold it and open it again for a fresh napkin.
- In Four in a Row, stand it up like a laptop and the board stands up too. Fold it after a round and the discs drop out.
- In Rally, the fold is the net.
- In Guess the Doodle, the drawer closes the phone and holds a button on the outside screen to peek at their word.
How does Fold-a-Monster work?
The first artist draws a head and lets the neck run past the dotted line at the bottom. Tap Fold it over (or close an iPhone Duo) and pass the phone. The next artist only sees those few lines and draws the body from them, then the legs, and the feet if you picked four parts. With secret twists on, each artist gets a private nudge, like “has wings”, that nobody else knows about until the end. Then unfold it, meet your monster and give it a name.
Where are my monsters?
Tap Stick it on the fridge after the reveal to keep one. Your fridge is on your device: pick Fold-a-Monster on the home screen and tap The fridge. From there you can rename a monster, share it as a picture or take it down.
How does Guess the Doodle work?
Pick Doodle, then Guess the Doodle. The drawer holds the eye button on their side to see the secret word, then draws it while the other person shouts out guesses. When they get it, the drawer taps Got it. You get a minute per word, ten words a game, and you take turns drawing. You’re a team, and the app keeps your best score.
There’s no sound.
Sounds follow your ring/silent switch. You can also turn sounds and haptics on or off with the gear button on the home screen.
How do I get it on my other devices?
Buy it once and download it on any iPhone or iPad signed in to the same Apple Account. In the App Store, tap your account picture, then Purchased.
Can I get a refund?
Apple handles all App Store purchases, so refunds go through reportaproblem.apple.com.
Does it need the internet?
No. There are no accounts, ads or in-app purchases, and everything works offline.
